An Immunohistochemical Study on the Endocrine Cells in the Intestines of the Korean Tree Squirrel, Sciurus vulgalis corea

Abstract
The regional distributions and relative frequencies of intestinal endocrine cells of the Korean tree squirrel, Sciurus vulgalis corea, were studied by immunohietochemicel (ABC) methods using PYY, neurotenain, motilin, substance P, secretin, GIP and M-enkephalin antisera PYY-immunoreactive cells were detected throughout the small and large intestine except that middle portions of small intestine and increased to distal portions of large intestine. Neurotensin-immunoreactive cells were observed throughout small and large intestine except that proximal portions of small intestine and most distal portions of large intestine. Motilin-immunoreactive cells were detected in proximal portions of small intestine. Substance P-immunoreactive cells were detected throughout small and large intestine. Few number of secretin-immunoreactive cells were observed in most proximal portions of small intestine. GIP-immunoreactive cells were detected throughout the small intestine but no M-enkephalin-immunoreactive cells were observed in this study.
